We all want to look our best on a night out. In fact, getting ready for the night is quite often the most exciting part. You know the feeling. The evening’s still fizzing with possibility and you’re starting to feel good. A sure way to kill that feeling is not being able to get your look right when it matters. In fact, it can kill the mood so much that you don’t want to go at all anymore. Then you spend the rest of the night sitting in the corner and feeling terrible. Sound familiar? Don’t worry; we’ve all been there. We’re going to take a look at some tips to ensure you don’t have any appearance disasters on your next big night out.
Getting your outfit right is the first step in ensuring you look good on the night. Decide whether you have something suitable in your wardrobe, or use the night as the perfect excuse to buy something new. After all, none of us need much of a push to get a new dress! Wearing something new will also ensure that you feel good, which is half the battle. When considering your options, keep in mind what kind of event you’re attending. Is it a work do, or a New Year’s Party you’ve got coming up? Is it smart of casual? Turning up in something inappropriate will knock your confidence straight away. If you’re shopping, make sure to try on all your picks. It’s hard to judge an outfit when it’s still on the hanger. If you’re wearing something you already own, try it on in advance. If you need to make any alterations, give yourself plenty of time to do them. Last minutes things like that can throw you into a panic on the night, and will instantly affect the mood.
Spare a thought for accessories, too. Pull out the jewelry box and revisit pieces you haven’t worn in years. If nothing matches the outfit you have in mind, treat yourself to something new. Having a little something shiny can do magical things to how you feel. There are so many necklaces for women, just take your pick. Of course, the options don’t stop at necklaces. Choose too, whether you want to wear bracelets and rings. If you have your legs on show, an ankle bracelet could add a lovely bit of sparkle.
With your outfit finished, turn your attention to your makeup. Getting makeup right on the night is one of the riskiest parts. Why does it always seem that makeup goes wrong when we most want it to look right? Try to avoid that by practicing your makeup style beforehand. That way, you can tweak your plans depending on how it looks. Going a little heavier with makeup than usual can look striking on a night out, but be careful. There’s a fine line between looking sultry and clown like. Even a little too much could tip the balance the wrong way.
