Hello, everyone!

Everyone knows that traveling is one of the most satisfying things any of us can do. But, are you fed up of standard hotel holidays? Sitting on the beach and soaking up the sun may be great for relaxing, but it’s not the best way to enjoy a new place. If you want a little more from your holidays, we’ve got some excellent suggestions for you. Getting creative with traveling can lead you to options you may never have considered. All it takes is thinking outside the box!

Most holiday destinations offer treats to those who look for them. The same can’t be said for accommodation. Though the easiest and most traditional choice, hotels aren’t the most inspiring places to stay. They’re a pricey option, too!  If you want to experience a holiday with a difference, get to grips with some alternatives. Airbnbs are a new phenomenon that offer a great chance to get to grips with life in your chosen location. With the Airbnb system, people offer out their spare rooms for rent. What better way to experience your destination than living with locals? This option can also be much cheaper than hotel stays! Or, you could become one with the nature of the place by camping. Remember to pack light if you choose this option. You won’t have a base to leave your stuff. If you think you’ve got what it takes, camping holidays can be a lot of fun. Take time to try it out at home before you go to see if it suits you!

Though not for everyone, cruises make fantastic alternatives to regular holidays. There is the downside that your explorations will depend on the cruise schedule. If you’re keen to see a lot of different countries in one vicinity, a cruise can be the perfect way to do it. Cruises are also great if you find yourself getting bored on the beach. Most cruise ships offer a variety of entertainments. Cruises also offer an excellent opportunity to meet new friends. You’re going to be on board with the same people for the duration of your holiday. Great friendships can be formed that way. Before you jump into a full-blown cruise, it’s worth trying out a weekend cruise and seeing how you get along. That way, you won’t be trapped. If you think you can do it, check out cheap cruise deals and set sail!

If even exploring doesn’t keep you occupied, a sporting holiday might be the right choice for you. Though not the most relaxing, a sports holiday is an excellent chance to hone skills or learn new ones. There are many choices out there, from skiing holidays to hiking breaks. If you’re far enough out of the box, you might want to sign up for something like a yoga retreat. Make the most of your holiday by doing something you never dedicate time to. What better time than when you’re enjoying the sunshine somewhere new?

I’m traveling to the very North this summer (Svalbard), and while it’s not a sports holiday, there will be a lot of hiking on a daily basis. Would love to go to a yoga retreat someday though.

I love all of these ideas! I should definitely explore more unconventional accommodations. Maybe that way, I can experience more of the culture, too. I always try to incorporate some type of sport in my travels. It makes it interesting indeed!

Excellent ideas! It gives you so much more memories to do something different and unique. I’ve been in hotels, motels, coach surfing, renting a house and much more. Soon I’m going to an overnight cruise with my two friends and at the summer I’m planning to do a long road trip. It’s fun to try all the new things and learn about myself, different cultures and life.

    Happy travels!

I love Air BnB! I use it often when I travel. And I’m planning on taking a cruise for one of my vacations this year- it really is an awesome way to see a lot of things in a short amount of time.

I love the options on Airbnb! They have tee-pees and tree forts too! Such a neat way to relax.

I second Airbnbs. Although I’m uncomfortable with renting a room in an occupied house, I have rented whole houses among the locals and it was great. Additionally, you get amenities like a washer/dryer, patio and full kitchen.

I so enjoyed this article, also very tired of the same old same old, but with two kids that is sometimes your safest choices. But after this article, we might plan our next holiday a bit different

I used AirBnB and got a very good room in Vietnam. They host people were awesome. I got to experience a lot, more than i would have if i had used a hotel. I agree some hotels experiences are way too overated.
