Every girl dreams of showing up at prom and having all eyes on her. We all want to be the belle of the ball; the girl everyone remembers because she was so nice and looked so beautiful on the night; because she was crowned Prom Queen! Okay, so there can only be one prom queen, but every girl can look beautiful on her prom night. Here are some tips to help you look like the Prom Queen you know you are, even if your classmates don’t agree!
Buying the Perfect Prom Dress
This is the one thing you absolutely must get right if you want to look like a real beauty at prom. Before you do anything else, take a look at dresses for prom 2017 to see what is available and what is in style.
Next, get a tape measure and measure your vital statistics, which include your waistline, armhole, bust and shoulder length. This will help to ensure that you get a dress that fits – this is vitally important because even the most expensive, beautiful dress will look bad if it doesn’t fit perfectly.
We all have our own personal style, but you need to check that what you are wearing is appropriate for the occasion of prom. Prom night tends to be a more sophisticated affair, so consider hemlines that are longer, rather than short, and when it comes to flashing the flesh, less is usually more. With that in mind, unless your school has a dress code in place, there is nothing wrong with denying expectations and going for a bodycon rather than a classic prom style.
When choosing a style of prom dress, bear in mind your own body shape and try to choose something that will flatter. For example, an apple shape will be hidden by a fuller skirt, and a bigger bust will look better in an A-line collar or halter style. If you get this right, there’s no way you won’t look great.
Heels and pumps are the go-to shoe for proms night, but if you want to show off your uniqueness, why not choose shoes that are a bit different. Polka dot Mary Janes, glitter covered heels, gold platforms – the shoe world is your oyster – just make sure that you choose shoes that match your dress in some way!
The Hair and Makeup
Prom night is one night when you want your hair to be perfectly preened, but there are many ways you can do this. Do you like the classic romance or a bun? The flirtatiousness of a messy braid or the designer flair of vintage victory rolls? There is no right or wrong to prom hair as long as you make an effort and try to choose a style that compliments your hair. For example, if you’re wiring a flirty 50s prom dress match it with a beehive or Marilyn curls that will complement it, rather than a modern style which will look out of place.
When it comes to prom makeup, go natural for the main part, but add in a few glam touches, such as glitter eyeshadow or colored mascara, for an unforgettable look that might just bag you that Prom Queen crown!
