Shanghai is one of those cities that the moment you touchdown there, you fall in love with the hustle and bustle and vibrant way of life. Not only is it the world’s financial hub, it’s also a city that is renowned for its technological and commercial amenities. It’s a city of culture, heritage and excitement.

A lot of travelers presume that Shanghai is just another city, but it’s so much more than that. Believe it or not, there really is more to Shanghai than meets the eye. It’s not just another metropolis, but a city that encompasses a range of different things, sure it has plenty of shopping facilities, but it’s also home to some amazing sights and attractions, many of which date back to ancient times.

So, Shanghai is a city with more to it than a lot of people realize, but what exactly does it offer?

Incredible hotels

When it comes to choosing a hotel in shanghai, travelers are spoilt for choice. This metropolitan city is home to hundreds of hotels, many of which are incredible, both in terms of their design and the amenities that they offer. There’s the Westin Bund Center, the Mandarin Oriental, The Regal Shanghai East Asia Hotel, there’s The Ritz-Carlton, and many more fantastic hotels to choose from. Shanghai is home to some of the world’s most unique and innovative accommodation options, so choosing where to stay is sure to be a struggle.


Amazing restaurants and eateries

Shanghai is also home to some out of this world restaurants and eateries, some of which serve authentic Chinese cuisine and others of which serve western-inspired foods. One of the very best restaurants is the Scena restaurants, located within the Ritz-Carlton hotel, which serves a range of different foods, including European cuisine. There’s Efes Restaurant, which serves Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. There’s Lost Heaven, an eatery that serves authentic Chinese cuisine. When it comes to eating in Shanghai, visitors really are spoilt for choice. 


Beautiful sights and attractions

There are also some amazing sights and attractions on offer here, including The Bund, a waterfront area that’s popular with visitors and boasts an incredible rooftop cocktail bar. There’s Yu Garden, Oriental Pearl Tower, one of China’s tallest buildings, Nanjing Road, a shopping center, and Shanghai Museum, among many other sights and attractions. There’s plenty of unique architecture to have a look at, such as Jin Mao Tower, Longhua Temple, and Sheshan Basilica. As well as having all of the attractions that all the best cities have, Shanghai also offers a lot more. From unique eateries and bars to shopping facilities that are out of this world, Shanghai has a lot more to offer than meets the eye.

If you are planning a trip to China, Shanghai, the country’s largest city is a must-visit place. It might seem like just another metropolitan city but that fact is that it’s so much more than that. There is, most definitely, more to this unique and vibrant city than meets the eye, that’s a promise.

    I’ve knocked most of Europe of my bucket list, so it’s time for me to start looking elsewhere. I never really considered China, but I think just looking at the food might change my mind!

    China, and especially passing by Shanghai, is in the top 5 of my bucket list! I so want to go there, but then I realise that I still have to finish my European bucket list that is around me 😀

    I have many Chinese friends, and many have invited me to visit them in their country, so yes, it is on my bucket list and hope next year I can make it happen. Thank you for sharing this xx

    I have been to China before but I didn’t get to go to Shanghai. I will have to visit if I can make it back there.
