5 Steps to planning a romantic holiday

Hello everyone!

Every now and then it is nice to surprise your partner or spouse with something out of the ordinary. A surprise date, token of appreciation, or even a surprise holiday can spice up a relationship and add fun to the daily mundane habits of life. While relationships take a lot of work and planning something fun and out of the ordinary once in awhile should also be fun for you! This article will provide some tips and ideas on how to plan a romantic holiday that you will remember for the rest of your life.

Step 1

The first thing to do is to decide if you want to keep the holiday a secret or if you want to involve your partner. Either option is great, however this decision does make an impact on how you begin to plan.

Step 2

If you choose to keep the holiday a secret, you will need to drop hints from time to time to gauge the response of your partner. You may need extra time to plan your holiday so that you can find out if your partner is interested in traveling during a certain time of year or if they would rather not due to work or school commitments. If your partner is a planner and enjoys structure, you may want to let them in on the planning so that they can be clear with their expectations and give input on the planning process.

Step 3

Decide on where you want to go. There are a variety of places in which you can take romantic holidays. If you are planning a surprise, consider all the places you and your partner have discussed in the past. Where have you been lately? Where can you go with the time that you have and within the budget you have settled on? After you have answered these questions, you can begin to make plans. If you and your partner are deciding together, asking yourselves these same questions can help narrow down your choices.

Step 4

The next thing you will want to do is decide on is your travel logistics such as but certainly not limited to transportation and lodging. If you are traveling within driving distance, this may be a better option so that you can have your car with you. If you are flying to your holiday destination, make a decision on whether or not you will need a rental car. Also decide on the type of place you want to stay in overnight. If you are in the mood for quiet, relaxing, romance, consider a hotel with a spa so that you can get a couples massage. If you are interested in being adventurous, consider a cabin in the woods or a tiki hut on the water. If you are trying to stay within a small budget, consider a quaint bed and breakfast or hostel.

Step 5

Pack accordingly. Be sure to pack a variety of clothing items. If you are traveling to a warmer climate, it is still a good idea to pack a sweatshirt or light jacket in case it gets chilly in the evening. If you are traveling to a colder climate, be sure to pack a pair of shorts and a t-shirt in case your lodging runs warm. It is always best to be over prepared than underprepared so if your luggage can manage it, be sure to pack a few extra things just in case.

These are great tips! My boyfriend and I are looking at going on a holiday later this year. Probably the Canary Islands and we know we should be booking flights right now but we’re just not doing it ahah. Not living in the same city makes it harder to plan so yeah, there must be some logistic planning! xx corinne
