Hello, everyone!

How is October going on so far? I hope you are having wonderful autumnal days, no matter where or what you do.  Today I am coming back with a new post for The Ordinary.  As I have promised, this time I will share with you my evening skincare routine using The Ordinary products. I have tried many different products from this brand but in the end, I have kept only a few of them. theordinary-evening-skincare-routine

Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution

The ordinary doesn’t have any cleansing products but does have this toning solution which I use only in the evenings and again not every night. As it might increase skin’s sensitivity to the sun it is suggested to be used ideally in the evening. Additionally,  this acid should not be used on sensitive, peeling or compromised skin. My skin can be sensitive sometimes but as I want the results of this exfoliator, I have chosen to use it only five times every week.

*The Glycolic Acid is an alpha hydroxyl acid that exfoliates the skin. This 7% toning solution offers mild exfoliation for improved skin radiance and visible clarity. The formula also improves the appearance of skin texture with continued use. * That said in product’s official page and that happened to my skin, indeed. I am using the toning for more than three months now and my skin is more bright, radiant and smoother. My skin tone has evened out and I can see the difference between the mornings I have used the toning the night before and the ones I haven’t used it.

If you have a sensitive skin and haven’t used any acid product until now you might want to try it first, before you buy it. My skin is normal to dry and sometimes can be very sensitive, depending on the weather for example. But, personally, until now, this specific acid hasn’t caused any breakout to my skin or any other reaction. The product comes in a plastic bottle with a twist top, easy to apply in cotton pads. It’s a pink liquid and smells like fruits mixed with light vinegar which is not repellent at all.  The Ordinary Glycolic Toner is oil and alcohol-free, silicone-free, nut and soy-free, gluten and cruelty-free.

Argireline Solution 10%

For my eyes every morning I use the Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG but while I was browsing on The Ordinary’s website I found out that Argireline solution 10% can be used in the eyes as well. So, a month ago or so I got this light serum which I use now only in the evening around my eyes, on the forehead and over my upper lip where I have 1-2 smile wrinkles. I am very satisfied with the Caffeine Solution but once it’s over I will continue using the Argireline Solution twice a day. I want to focus more on the fine, expression lines and I think that the Argireline Solution targets more on these as after only one month’s use I can see the lines smoother and softer. The product itself is very watery and absorbs very easy, I don’t have to wait for the next step.

Alpha Lipoic Acid 5%

I use the Buffet every morning (you can read all about it in my previous post) and the evenings I have used the lactic acid I add the buffet also, as it’s a serum which keeps my skin hydrated and smooth. But, two times every week I like adding another one acid in my routine, the Alpha Lipoic Acid. From the website: ”Alpha Lipoic Acid is a highly potent antioxidant and can restore a renewed skin appearance, improving visible skin texture and tone when applied topically.” As it contains an extremely high concentration of ALA, daily use it’s not suggested. I apply only a few drops in my entire face very carefully because it’s very liquid. It’s almost yellow, doesn’t smell and absorbs very quickly. After using it for more than three months I like the results and my skin looks really fresh, renewed, and glowy.

The first day I used it I felt a light burning in my skin but I wasn’t worried at all as I knew that acids might cause this feeling. And yes, after the 3rd or the 4th time my skin was familiar with the product and that burning feeling disappeared. The bottle contains 30ml so it’s not only affordable, it lasts very long as well.

100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil

So, about 5 evenings every week  I use the Glycolic Acid, the Argilerine Solution and the Buffet. These days my fourth last step in my routine is the Rose Hip Oil. This is a light-weighted oil, made from 100% pure Rosehip Seed Oil and contains also vitamin A. I had tried a few oils in the past but I was very disappointed as they left my skin oily and nothing more. This one is an oil, okay, but it’s formulated this way that absorbs very quickly without being heavy.  There is a light scent when first applied but nothing serious. It’s very moisturizing and after 2 months or so I am using it, any redness I had in my skin has been reduced. As the weather is getting colder and my skin doesn’t like the cold at all, redness can be more visible from now on. But I hope that the Rose Hip Oil will be a great reducer to this redness.

Now, the other two evenings I am using the Alpha Lipoic Acid my routine is like this: Argireline solution, Alpha Lipoic Acid and the Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA which for me is an effective moisturizer, ideally for morning or evening routines. You can read more about it in this post or in this one.

These sound amazing! I don’t have evening routine either haha. I’m so bad at these skincare things. Should create ones soon though! Adding this to my bucket list for 2018.

I’m so glad that you shared the pointer about sensitive skin, because I have sensitive skin but I am looking for a new line mom to help my skin this winter. I love the packaging and I loved your pointers.

I’ve been wanting to see how my skin does with the oil cleansing method so the rose hip seed oil would be on my list.

Honestly, I haven’t got a clue when it comes to all these products, but it seems like a nice product. A well written and detailed post. Well done.

The Ordinary looks extraordinary. Never cared enough for my skin except my morning routine, which involves cleansing and moisturizing. Should include evening routine and toning as well.

I haven’t heard of this brand before either. I really like their scientific, simplistic approach, that’s what I’m looking for. Were they good enough to convince you to buy them again?
