What is not to love the berry shades of lipsticks at this time of the year? From rose lilac to rose plum to dark plum, any shade of them gives the bright finishing touch to your makeup. Recently, I have added some new pieces from Wet n Wild in my collection. Two of them are classic lipsticks and the other one is liquid. Let’s see them.
Until recently, well, let’s say about a year ago or so, I wasn’t so much into liquid lipsticks. I had tried a few budget options and other high street products but I was quite disappointed with their finish. Liquid lipsticks should be nicely pigmented, with a long-lasting formula which should also keep lips hydrated even if the final finish is matte. I like the matte, non-sticky finish and this is exactly what MegaLast Liquid Lipstick does. The color Rebel Rose is more a mauve-pink shade than a clear berry one, but I like it as I can wear it easily either in the morning or later in the evening.
This is another one berry shade lipstick which actually is a light berry, warm mauve-pink color!!! The formula is creamy and soft and with only a swipe, you get a full pigmented, bold enough shade. The lipstick slowly dries to a semi-matte finish but still, after 3-4 hours I felt my lips smooth and hydrated, not cakey at all. Something else I like about this lipstick is that it doesn’t feather through the fine lines around my lips. The shade is suitable for every hour of the day.
The third lipstick is a real berry shade lipstick. It’s a mix of plum-berry and fuchsia pink color, a shade I would only wear in the evenings though! The color is rich and very pigmented from the first swipe and long lasting as well. The Sugar Plum Fairy is not so creamy and soft compared to the In the Flesh but generally glides smoothly.
Usually, I don’t use any lip liner when I wear lighter shades but in this case, I think I can have an easier application if I use a lip liner. Besides that, darker colors make the lips look smaller so the lip liner will help you create fuller lips. (Trick: wear the lipstick first, then create the shape with the lip liner*. It works perfectly in my lip shape, why not in yours!) There is a light blue undertone in this shade, another plus, as for make the teeth looking whiter!
