Hello, everyone!

Are you finding it harder and harder to use public transportation when you go to work or go home? You may be thinking of buying your own car but find that it might prove to be too expensive for you, given that you also need to spend money on gas, insurance and maintenance fees.

Taxis are also an option, but there are times when it is hard to hail one and some cabs are not well maintained and you may not feel safe. The answer to your dilemma is getting a rideshare service instead.

It may not be as cheap as taking public transportation, but it is money well spent because you are getting to your destination safe and sound and without much hassle or stress. If it is your first time try a rideshare service, check out the tips below to ensure that you are getting your money’s worth.

1. Make sure to download the apps

Since it has become more popular and became one of the major modes of transportation, more and more companies have sprouted up to offer this service. Check which one is available in your country or city, as not all services are available everywhere. Make sure that you download the app to your mobile device so that you can make the most out of the service.

2. Save your free ride for a long trip

The first time that you download and use the rideshare app, you will usually get a free ride. To make the most out of this freebie, save it for a worthwhile trip. You can use it when you have to go somewhere that’s far or a little out of the way so that you don’t have to spend a lot of money for that trip. Although you can still use it on one of your daily travels, it might feel like a waste if it is not for a special occasion.

3. Compare the fare rates to get the best deals

You need to be smart with the service that you will be availing. If there are several ridesharing services available in your city, make sure to check how their rates compare to the others. The prices change depending on the service you get or even the time you are availing the service.  If you are someone who uses Uber regularly, you can get an estimate of your trip over at

4. Explore all the ride options and peak hours

Big companies like Uber and the like offer more than just one type of service. You can opt for bigger cars if there are many in your group, and you can even pool with other riders. Also, make sure to check the time that you are getting a ride because sometimes a difference of 15 minutes can mean you won’t have to pay as much due to off-peak hours.

5. Look for online deals and coupons

The great thing about ridesharing services is that even though the free ride only comes when you first download the app, there are stills some discounts you can get if your research online.

As always, thank you for visiting and have a great day!

I haven’t heard of this thing before! Though, if it was a thing in Finland it would become illeagal as quickly as Uber did haha. I love the idea of it though! 🙂

I haven’t heard of this app before, but is sounds amazing. This concept is still not that acceptable in the country where I live, especially in the town where I live, because it’s a small town. 🙂 Though, I would love this. 🙂

Great tips, Helene! I often use LYFT here in Los Angeles. The tips you gave out are definitely helpful and something I implement. Been using ride share since they started having that feature <3
