Highlighters complete and transform your make up in just one swipe! How good that sounds? Very good I could say! There are powder and liquid highlighters and I usually prefer the first ones for my everyday makeup. Well, today these are four of them, favorites and new ones, which I have chosen to use this season and I think you should give a try too!
Starting with this gorgeous ”lady”, Mary-Lou Manizer which I have recently purchased and keep wondering why I didn’t ever get it earlier. This is a powder multitasking highlighter, classic and famous among the makeup lovers. Its texture is soft and buttery and can be used either on cheeks or on eyes. For the days you need some extra brightness support you can wear it as a powder as well, for it will give you a subtle glow and this little pick up that your face needs. Generally, is an amazing highlighter, honey-hued, perfect to be used as an eyeshadow if you prefer to.
Last Autumn I tried a few basic products from this brand (foundation, powder and concealer) and as I was really satisfied with them I thought I would try this highlighter as well. And after watching Alanna’s video using it along with other drugstore products, I was sure I would love it and I wasn’t wrong. The highlighter is smooth, pigmented and easy-to-blend. The shade Precious Petals which I have is a light warm champagne tone. As for the finish, you get a long-lasting glow. Sophisticated and natural if you use a light hand or more intense, depending on your preference and the occasion.
Normally, I wouldn’t consider using a highlighter in such dark shade as this one on my fair tone face. But since this Nyx highlighter was a part of a beauty box, I thought well, why not, I can least give it a try! It is the shade Crushed Bloom, Dusty Rose with pink and light blue duo-chromatic pearls. For me, it is better to say a mauve-peachy-coppery shade. According to Nyx, these pearls catch the light giving a dimensional, sheeny glow by changing color in the light and yes, I managed to see the duo-chromatic effect they offer.
Its smooth and creamy texture make it easy to apply and as it is very pigmented, just one brush is enough. All the five shades of this highlighter can be used as eyeshadows as well. From now on, and because I might get some tan, I think I would use it above my blush for that luminous finishing touch on my cheeks!
The last but of course not the least product is this amazing palette from Makeup Revolution in collaboration with SophDoesNails. There is a review in a previous post, you can have a look here. The palette contains 8 different shades, 5 baked and 3 pressed highlighting powders, suitable for most skin tones. All the shades are very wearable, and some of them like the copper or the rose gold perform pretty well as eyeshadows. Because of the different formulas and the shade range, I can create many looks, natural, subtle or super glowy! The formula is soft and creamy and all the shades are buildable and easy to blend.
Considering the price and the fact that the product is vegan, cruelty and gluten-free, this palette is value for money in an great quality!
