FIVE TIPS TO STAYING IN A LODGE ON A SAFARI

Hello, everyone!

Going on a safari is a spectacular experience. The atmosphere of the African landscapes, wildlife, and game drives is simply breathtaking. Staying in a lodge on a safari is fascinating. The hospitality, service and the comfort you get while enjoying your stay in the wild is unforgettable. When going on a safari ensure that you book a lodge depending on your needs and budget. Here are 5 tips to staying on a lodge on a safari.

1. THE LOCATION

The location of the lodge is very important. A lodge with a breathtaking view of the park or Savannah will allow you to watch the scenic views of Africa from the comfort of your room. Find out beforehand if there is an open panoramic lounge or a terrace with a view, where you can relax in the evening and watch the African sunset. It is also important to ask about the safety especially at night to avoid unexpected encounters with wild animals.

2. THE SERVICE

When staying in a lodge on a safari, service is key. The lodge should ensure that the hospitality and the service are phenomenal, making your stay comfortable as you enjoy the wildlife. Going on a safari is often a once in a lifetime experience. Stay in a lodge where the food, the drinks, and the rooms will leave you with beautiful memories.

3. YOUR GUIDE

When staying at a lodge, find out if they have a guide. Guides are knowledgeable about the animals and the game drives. A guide can answer all your questions while driving you around the park. Guides also know which areas to stop and view the wildlife, or walk on foot without risking your lives. If you stumble upon an agitated animal, you need not worry. This is because the guide is usually armed with a gun to scare away the animal.

4. THE GAME DRIVE

The game drive is probably the most fascinating part of staying in a lodge when on a safari. The early morning game drive allows you to catch the sunrise and stare at the beauty of Africa. Usually, full breakfast is served after you return from your game drive. In the evening, you can expect a second game drive that lasts till the darkness sets. This drive will allow you to see nocturnal animals that only come out at night which is definitely worth the experience.

5. ACCOMMODATION TYPE

Before you book for your stay in a lodge, find out what type of accommodation facilities they have and the cost. If you love a very natural setting you can opt for a tent or an open tree house with pit toilets and bucket showers. Ideally, the accommodation you choose should be comfortable and should cater for all your needs while you are staying at the lodge.

ooh I wish I could go. I think I am more comfortable with the idea instead of actually doing it. We had an location in my state where you could drive in your car with the animals around and they came up to your car windows. I almost passed out from fear. I hope I could really do a Safari and take in the beauty of the animals. It is a life goal to do something like that!

Interesting post and great tips, Helene! I’m a bit scared of any kind of wild life but if I’d be with a group that knows the place and the animals it would be interesting. On the other hand I’d love to see those lions and tigers but on the other hand they are super scary haha. 🙂

I would love to go on a safari! I mean we have a safari park here in the UK but its more controlled & it feels more like driving around a zoo really. This is the kind of safari I want to go on, it feels more realistic I am sure!
