Every time a new season arrives I like to add new or just to re-discover my favorite makeup shades. This Autumn came quite early in my country so it’s time to start wearing light knitwear, jumpers and cardigans. Of course, it’s time also to put back my softer pink and peach summer hues and take out the all the warmer or darker tones. Neutrals and browns, berries and plums, copper and bronze are a few of the autumnal makeup shades I am gonna embrace this season.
For all the warm beige, brown, caramel or chocolate tones, the Miniature Cookie eyeshadow palette from Sephora comes in a mini, travel-friendly package. Contains six rich shades suitable for a natural everyday look or for an intense, smokey evening look.
Another mini palette, from Wet n Wild this time, is the Color Icon Eyeshadow Quad and the ”Hooked in Vinyl” shade. Although it’s a small palette, contains four smooth and creamy to powder shades, quite pigmented and easy to blend. The first two shades are the yellow-orange shade (a transition one) and the creamy white for highlighting. The other two shades, the green teal and the dark bronzed copper, are perfect for smokey and defined eye looks.
The Revolution Re-Loaded Eyeshadow Palette/Newtrals 2 is the one I choose for its warm red, berry and plum shades. (Of course, there are a few more nude, orange or brown shades). The palette contains 15 shades, a mix of matte, shimmer and foiled eyeshadows. The formula is very creamy and powdery, (the matte shades are more powdery for example), and the pigmentation is amazing. They blend easily and their longevity it’s great.
I like vivid and bold blush shades during Autumn and Winter but my summer tan fades away and eventually, I am getting back to my normal fair skin tone. That for, I try using darker blush shades but the lighter version of them. The Mellow Wine Color Icon blush from Wet n Wild is the one I reach for when I want to match with neutrals and brown or warm toned makeup looks. It looks more like a peach tone on the package but on my face is rather a soft beige nude which looks perfect on me. Besides that, the formula is soft and smooth and applies easily.
When it comes to berry and pink shades I know that dark pink shades look better than berries on my fair skin and so the Revolution Ultra Blush Palette in Hot Spice offers to me six different blush shades. (Unfortunately out of stock currently). From nude pink to hot pink, all the shades have a great pigmentation and are easy to blend. Two more shades are available in this palette, both suitable to be used as a highlighter.
Speaking of highlighters, the Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighter Powder in the shade Precious Petals is affordable and delivers the best golden-champagne glow on my cheekbones. Its formula is silky and soft, and although it’s also highly pigmented, blends easily leaving nothing but a natural glow on my face.
Another favorite highlighter is the Pixi Glow-y Gosammer Duo Highlighter**, a soft and creamy to powder highlighter that gives me a bright yet natural glow. The shade Subtle Sunrise contains a gold-toned rose shade and a subtle yellow gold shade, both suitable for any skin tone.
Lipsticks & Liquid lipsticks
During Summer and Spring any lipstick, (liquid or normal), nude shade related would be one of my favorites. But I can now affirm that darker shades would be my priority for the next few months. For my everyday makeup looks, including work and weekends, the Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lip** in the Evening Rose shade is a beautiful dark pink with a hint of brown color, perfect to amend my nude addiction. The liquid lipstick is infused with Rosehip oil and while dries quickly is very comfortable on the lips, has an amazing longevity and doesn’t dry out my lips.
From the new shades of the Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lip collection, I have also chosen another one shade that stands out and screams ”Autumnal shade”: the ”Berry Boost”, a plumy berry shade, bold and dramatic, perfect for when I want to make a statement with my makeup.
And for the days or the nights I want the classic lipstick, I choose the Sephora Labyrinth City from the Lipstories Lipstick collection. It’s a reddish plumy berry shade, smooth and very comfortable on my lips. It has a high pigmentation, it’s long-lasting, smells nice and has a matte finish.
Well, here are a few of my favorite autumnal makeup shades. What are yours?
