A healthy life is the only thing we should never take for granted. Unfortunately, sometimes we are too busy that we forget to take care of ourselves, physically and mentally. But keeping us healthy it’s easier than we think. Here are five easy tips to follow for a healthier life.
Try to sleep enough
If we don’t rest and don’t sleep well our body and mind remain stressed. We also tend to eat more (the lack of sleep disrupts the functioning of hormones that regulate appetite and the satisfaction of appetite). Additionally, the lack of sleep causes premature aging. As for the hours of sleep needed every night, it’s up to you. If you sleep for 6 hours and get the rest you really need, then 6 hours is enough!
Drink more water
Over 60% of our body is made up of water but our body loses water every moment through sweating or just breathing. That for, we need to rehydrate by drinking water or eating foods and having drinks that contain water. Fruits and vegetables, milk, tea and fruit juice, are foods and beverages high in water content. There is no rule regarding the amount of water we need every day as it depends on many different factors such as your daily activity, body weight etc. One thing I try to remember and follow personally is to hydrate myself before even I get thirsty.
Eat fruits and vegetables
Fruits and vegetables are high in water content but this is not the only reason we should add them daily in our meals. They are rich in vitamins, nutrients, minerals and anti-oxidants. You can eat them as they are but you can also cook them easily in many different ways. Fruits and vegetables help to protect against some diseases as well, as they contain phyto-chemicals or plant chemicals. High blood pressure or type 2 diabetes are some examples.
Drink tea instead of coffee
Do you drink coffee in the morning or do you prefer tea? If you choose drinking tea over coffee you are making the right choice, as per me. I could list a lot of reasons on why to drink tea instead of coffee but here are only a few:
- Tea is healthier than coffee as it contains catechins, a kind of antioxidant compound. These antioxidants help to protect the body from some kinds of diseases, such as heart problems, certain kinds of cancers or diabetes.
- Tea has less caffeine than coffee. Although caffeine can increase concentration and raise alertness, a large amount of caffeine can do just the opposite. Coffee and tea contain caffeine but only coffee is high in the stimulants and that means you can enjoy tea and its positive aspects without all the negatives that caffeine can cause to your body.
- Tea helps you keep hydrated and as it lowers the stress hormone levels, it can help you relax or concentrate easier. Black tea specifically, has been shown to reduce the effects of a stressful situation.
Yarra Valley Impex Vic is a 100% Australian Owned Business based in Melbourne. Ceylon Tea and Premium Ceylon Cinnamon Tea are two of their best products. They are naturally grown products to give you a healthy choice in food.
Are you trying to lose weight? Eat less yet healthier and start regular exercise. Are you feeling depressed, stressed or anxious? Start working out. Serotonin and other endorphins will be increased making you feel happier and relaxed.
