The Four Best Places to Explore in the UK

Hello, everyone!

The UK, which is comprised of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe. Its popularity is thanks to its rich heritage, diverse landscape and world-renowned landmarks
and attractions, which will ensure you have an unforgettable trip.

If you are considering a break away to the beautiful island nation in the future, check out the four best places to explore in the UK.

1. London, England

If you are looking for a fun city break that will never fail to disappoint, look no further than London, which is England’s capital city.

Approximately 30 million people visit the Big Smoke every year to experience the city’s famous landmarks, exciting attractions, and distinctive culture.

You can trust you’ll never be short of fun things to do. For instance, fans of the Royal Family should pay a visit to Buckingham Palace, and you should time your visit to watch the Changing of the Guard.

However, if you’re looking for Instagram-worthy landmarks, grab a selfie outside of Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey.

Once the evening rolls around, you should attend a West End musical or play or experience the atmosphere of the city’s many sleek bars and nightclubs. To learn more about London, visit

2. Edinburgh, Scotland

Edinburgh is easily one of the most beautiful cities in all of Scotland, if not the UK. It would be difficult not to fall in love with the Scottish capital, which offers well-preserved buildings that are a symbol of the city’s extensive history.

It is also home to the stunning Edinburgh Castle, which is perched high above the heart of the city on a dormant volcano.

Other landmarks worth a visit during a city break include:

  • Palace of Holyroodhouse
  • Royal Mile
  • Royal Palace
  • Scottish National War Memorial
  • Stone of Destiny

If you want to experience the very best of Edinburgh, time your visit for the Edinburgh Fringe, which is a famous literary and arts festival that is annually hosted across the city throughout August.

3. Brecon Beacons, Wales

If, however, you’re looking to spend more time in the great outdoors to embrace a fun adventure, visit the beautiful Brecon Beacons. For example, you’ll be able to hike up high mountain peaks or kayak on rocky rivers.

You can also explore quaint villages that offer picturesque views and can sample the finest, freshest produce Wales offers to both locals and tourists.

4. Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland

To absorb incomparable views during a visit to the UK, expect the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland, which will take your breath away. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was formed by approximately 40,000 interlocking
basalt columns, which are believed to date back 60 million years and it was reportedly built by the giant Finn McCool.

To explore the best of Giant’s Causeway, take the 4.5-mile Causeway Coastal Route, which will allow you to pass ruined castles, emerald fields, and rolling farmland while breathing in the beauty of the ocean.

We visited London in 2005/06 I guess. This is one of my favorite places along with Paris. We have Scotland on our list. We always tend to go to US as we don’t have to work extra for the visa. hehehe. My brother is on his Europe tour and in Paris right now. 🙂 Lovely post Helene and your pictures are tempting me to plan a visit again.
